Rev. Hre Mang lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, with his family, his wife Lynda Tumpar, and his two children Ginny Mang (15) and Moses Mang (14), since 2002. In august 2000, he came to the United States under the US Congress mandated Scholarship program for Burmese student pro-democracy movement activists. When Burma student pro-democratic movement occurred in 1988, he was a university student at Mandalay University, Burma. Due to his political involvement of student pro-democracy movement, he had to leave the country Burma in 1988. He spent couple of years in Burma jungle for pro-democratic activities, until he went back to Theological School in 1993. He graduated with degrees, such as Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.), Mater of Theology (Th.M.), in India and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (B.A.) in New York, and Master of Public Affairs (MPA) from IUPUI, Indianapolis, in 2005. He worked for the state of Indiana welfare department for 7 years, 2003-2010 until the Lord called him for fulltime minister as a local church pastor where he now serves as a senior pastor of Falam Christian Church of Indianapolis. He earned his Ph.D. in Leadership from Tennessee Temple University in 2015. Rev. Mang also involves in community services, in leadership position, such as Chairman of the board of directors of the Chin Community of Indiana (2013-2015), Vice President of the Chin Baptist Association of North America (2013-2015), and Vice President of the Burmese American Community Institute (2013-2015).
